about

I wrote this song years ago. I was frustrated with how little material goods and "fame" I had because that was all that people seem to care about. With any of my music, I've only wanted to write good music and make people feel something. That's where this song came from. It was only a verse and chorus, and then Willie Green asked if I had any demos that he could produce for a class. I sent him this along with other ones, and he decided to choose this one. I really enjoyed writing the second verse and creating this in the studio with Willie.

lyrics

I never had much in the way of material things
Never had too much to give
But always gave so much away
It was never enough to be seen on the stages and screen
I just want to tell the truth
Want the world to feel something

I hope you remember me
By the beauty I've shared
By the love I have shown
But the works I have done

I hope you remember me
By the beauty I've shared
By the love I have shown
But the works I have done

It was all much simpler when
I didn't think of dollars and cents
When I sat down to write a new song
The goal was to get you to sing along but
Money made by powerful men
Never trickled down to my pen
But my goal is you'll stick around
And tell all your friends about my sound

I hope you remember me
By the beauty I've shared
By the love I have shown
But the works I have done
